Greene University of South Carolina Introduction and Overview As an Advanced Standing Masters of Social Work student at the University of South Carolina, I had the opportunity to interview a LISW at the Stairway Counseling Services, LLC in Aiken, SC. I called the interviewee on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 to arrange to meet on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 5:00pm, she agreed. When I arrived at her office, she introduced herself and shook my hand. Her office was very clean and inviting. She is a 45-year-old African American and her appearance was very professional. We will be discussing the range of practice roles within area of practice, knowledge and skills that are required within the practice, and the relationship between the organizational structure, its function, and services it offers. Description of the Interview The interviewee seemed very eager to answer any questions. I had four opened questions for her. â€Å"Open questions have the advantage of giving the interviewee a measure of control over the interview(Kadushin Kadushin, 2013, p. 243).† My first question to her was, what made you choose social work as a career? She remembered quite vividly that she had always wanted to help people. She remembered doing an internship with adult probation. She told me, she wasn’t going to spend the rest of her life chasing grown people and making them accountable for their actions.
